When and where were you married?
Bev and I were married August 9, 1959 in Atlanta, Indiana.
Do you have children ?
Yes, three, all married with families of their own: Rhonda (& Wade) Overdorf, Teresa (& Mike) House, and David (& Gina).
Where did you attend school?
Jackson Central High School (Hamilton Heights High School).
What are your hobbies?
Live stock.
What is your vocation?
I’m a farmer and I’m retired from banking.
Why did you become an elder?
Initially, because of my business background I thought I could offer guidance and leadership. After a short time, I wanted to learn more. I started studying scripture and began learning how to bring others to know Christ.
What do you like best about Cicero Christian Church?
I like fellowshipping with ministers, staff, and members.
What is your favorite dessert?
Anything sweet.
What is your favorite song?
“Because,” I like the melody and words.
What is your favorite book of the Bible?
I Corinthians, it gives us instruction on how to conduct church.
Ron has been an elder since 1992.

Stephen N. Zell

When and where were you married?
Donna and I were married May 31, 1980 at the East Christian Church in Markleville, Indiana.
Do you have any children?
Yes, two sons. Chris is a graduate of Purdue is serving as a Software Engineer for S.A.I.C in Indianapolis and is also a Captain and pilot in the Indiana Army National Guard; and Daniel works as a custodian for Hamilton Heights School Corporation as well as a part-time custodian for Cicero Christian Church and operates a small mowing business on the side.
Where did you attend school?
United Electronics Technical College.
What are your hobbies?
Lawn work and restoring an old corvette with my son Chris.
What is your vocation?
Retired from the corporate world, and a local law office, Steve is currently working with another individual in starting a newe company in the Wind Energy Industry.
Why did you become an elder?
For the love of the church. I wanted to serve the Lord and church community using the God-given skills that He has provided. I also want to do whatever God wants me to do to witness to others.
What do you like best about Cicero Christian Church?
I love the people of the church, how we care for and take care of each other, and the church family. Also, seeing how God works.
What book, other than the Bible, do you highly recommend?
“The Church Awakening” by Charles Swindoll and "Lead Like Jesus" by Hodges and Blanchard.
What is your favorite scripture?
Romans 8:28, 29. There is so much truth in these verses and I’ve fallen back on these verses a lot in my life.
What is your favorite thing to do on Sunday afternoon?
Crash (sleep), visit family, watch a good race, and spend time with family.
Steve served as an elder from 1996-1999, his current term began in 2011.

When and where were you married?
Pam and I were married June 3, 1972 in North Webster, Indiana.
Do you have any children?
Yes, two sons. Ed and his wife Erin, and Tim and his wife Cory.
Where did you attend school?
Ball State University.
What are your hobbies?
Model T Ford restoration, running, working in the sawmill, and making lumber.
What is your vocation?
Graphic Designer.
Why did you become an elder?
I felt a calling from God.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Going to the World’s Fair in Seattle in 1962.
What book, other than the Bible, do you highly recommend?
“Wild at Heart” by John Eldredge or “Bringing up Boys” by Dr. James Dobson.
What is your favorite day of the week?
Friday, because it starts the weekend.
What is your favorite book of the Bible?
Philippians. It has a lot of good scripture that relates to my life.

Teresa and I were married October 19, 1984 in Cicero, Indiana.
Do you have children?
Yes, we have a daughter, Emma, in college, and a son, Grant, finishing up High School at Hamilton Heights.
Where did you attend school?
Hamilton Heights High School.
What is your hobby?
Basketball.
What is your vocation?
Farmer.
Why did you become an elder?
I felt God had led me to that point.
What do you like best about Cicero Christian Church?
The people are loving and caring.
What is your favorite color?
John Deere Green.
What is your favorite scripture?
I Corinthians 13: 3-6. It exemplifies how you should live your life and how you should extend love when people least deserve it.
If you could have all you want of (money, respect, chocolate, or sleep) what would you choose?
Respect.

Nancy and I were married September 14, 1980 in Noblesville.
What are the names and ages of your children?
Emily 23, Amy 21, Eli 19, and Jacob 16
Where did you attend school?
Noblesville High School.
What is your hobby?
Outdoor sports.
What is your vocation?
I own Westfield Lighting Company.
Why are you considering becoming an elder?
I had been active in my previous church. I knew I wanted to go farther at CCC. When I was asked to become an elder, I did not say “no”.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Fishing with my dad.
Do you have pets?
Yes, two dogs (Barkley & Charlie) and some un-named cats.
What is your favorite scripture?
Proverbs 27:17. Larry used to quote that verse a lot at men’s breakfast. I really like it and I believe it to be true.
If you could have all you want of (money, respect, chocolate, or sleep) what would you choose?
Respect. The others are more easily attainable. Respect, you have to work hard for.

When and where were you married?
Judy and I were married December 29, 1962 in Randolph County, Indiana.
What are the names and ages of your children?
We have three grown children and four grandchildren: Beth (& Jeff) Roberts and Grace, Christy (& Dave Neuenschwander) and Whitney and Nicholas, and Todd (& Holly) and Mason.
Where did you attend school?
I have a BA from Huntington College and Masters from IU.
What are your hobbies?
Growing flowers, collecting coins, golf, fishing, auctions, and volunteering at church.
What is your vocation?
I am a retired Social Studies teacher.
Why did you become an elder?
I enjoyed doing things for the church. I started doing small tasks and they kept getting bigger and bigger. The Lord blessed the activities I partook in and the leaders of the church at the time asked me to consider the position and function of elder. It was a gradual process and it was obvious that is where the Lord was leading.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
The influence of my parents and grandparents. The learning experiences and encouragement they gave.
What is your favorite color?
Blue.
What is your favorite memory of a church mission?
I went on a trip to help move a new minister in the 70’s with Bob [Whisman] and Ron [McGill]. I didn’t know they were practical jokers until after the trip. Another good memory was the church relocating to Stringtown Pike. The process took a period of years. I saw God’s plan unfolded with patience. Also, I’ve been on a lot of bus trips with kids. Always expect a mechanical problem on a church bus out of state.
What is your favorite thing to do on Sunday afternoon?
I like to go home and watch sports, take a nap, or visit family.
Mike has been an elder since 1972. He also served as a part time youth minister at CCC in the 1970s.

John S. Knapp

Sharon and I were married June 16, 1963 in Cicero, Indiana.
What are the names and ages of your children?
We have two married children, Beth Ann and Tim, and we have four grandchildren.
Where did you attend school?
Jackson Central High School (Hamilton Heights High School).
What are your hobbies?
Mowing and painting.
What is your vocation?
I am retired from GM.
Why did you become an elder?
I was raised in church. I became a Junior Deacon then a Deacon. Later, I became an elder so I could serve the church more.
What do you like best about Cicero Christian Church?
The love of the people, the service they do for the Lord, and their caring for others.
What book, other than the Bible, do you highly recommend?
“Coach Wooden One-on-One” by Johnny Wooden.
What is your favorite day of the week?
Sunday, I get to see everybody and it’s exciting to worship with them.
If money were no object, what is your fantasy vacation?
A cruise to Alaska.

What are the names and ages of your children?
Kim, Tim, Kristy, & Tony are all grown. We have five grandchildren in Indiana and Florida.
Where did you attend school?
Indiana State & Indiana University
What are your hobbies?
Golf, mowing, and traveling.
What is your vocation?
I am retired from construction ownership.
Why did you become an elder?
I wanted to find more ways to serve the Lord and my church family. I’ve been given much more than I have received.
What do you like best about Cicero Christian Church?
I like the family atmosphere. Everyone is so grounded in the Lord.
What is your favorite sports team?
Indianapolis Colts!
What is your favorite scripture and why?
John 3:16, because it tell of the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf. It also tells of the greatest love man has ever known.
When, where, and what age were you when you got baptized?
It was in 1978, I was 34, at the old Cicero Christian Church building.
Paul completed the Elder mentoring process in the fall of 2010 and was ordained in on October 17, 2010. His first three-year term of service begins in 2011.

When and where were you married?
Betty and I were married December 28, 1978 in Indianapolis.
What are the names of your children?
Sharon, Mark, and Scott.
Where did you attend school?
Ben Davis High School.
What are your hobbies?
Golfing and reading.
What is your vocation?
I’m an ordained Christian church minister, I taught college classes, and I worked in law enforcement and hospital chaplaincy.
Why did you become an elder?
Because I felt there was a deed for me to help the church, I have many years of experience as a minister, and I love the people.
Where did you grow up?
Indianapolis.
What book, other than the Bible, do you highly recommend?
Strong’s exhaustive concordance, Vine’s expository dictionary of new testament words, and Zondervan’s pictorial Bible dictionary.
What is your favorite thing to do on Sunday afternoon?
Rest or hospital / shut in visits.
Bill served as an elder from 1998 to 2001. Since then, he has served as an emeritus.
